HC Deb 04 May 1967 vol 746 c116W
Sir T. Beamish

asked the Minister of Public Building and Works if he is aware that the south facing rooms in the upper committee corridor, north, are hot and stuffy on sunny days in spite of the air conditioning; and if he will arrange to disconnect the air conditioning on hot days so that the windows can be opened.

Mr. Prentice

The windows to rooms in this corridor face west and cannot be opened. The effect of shutting down the air-conditioning system on hot days would be intolerable. The air-conditioning system provides 14 complete changes of air per hour. The temperature is thermostatically controlled and normally maintained at 68°F. with 50 per cent. relative humidity. My engineers in the House (extension 800) are always ready to investigate complaints and make any adjustments to the system found to be necessary.
