HC Deb 04 May 1967 vol 746 c95W
6. Mr. Dodds-Parker

asked the Minister of Overseas Development whether he will send an expert to Gibraltar to examine, together with the Government of Gibraltar, the wages and salaries of teachers, and to make recommendations as to the future staffing and pay structure of the teaching profession.

Mr. Oram

In response to a request from the Government of Gibraltar, an expert has been appointed under technical assistance arrangements to examine and report on Gibraltar's wages and salary structure. He is Mr. Arthur Marsh, a specialist in industrial relations and wages structures. His terms of reference will cover teachers' salaries.

7. Mr. Dodds-Parker

asked the Minister of Overseas Development what technical assistance will be given to Gibraltar in the year 1967–68 by the provision of scholarships and bursaries in the United Kingdom.

Mr. Oram

For the financial year 1967–68 two Commonwealth Scholarships and thirteen Commonwealth Teacher Training Bursaries have been awarded to students from Gibraltar. In addition, funds are available under the Regional Programme of Technical Assistance to provide about 20 awards.
