Mr. Urwinasked the First Secretary and Secretary of State for Economic Affairs what representations he has received from the Northern Regional Economic Planning Council regarding implementation of the recommendations contained in the regional study, Challenge of the Changing North; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. ShoreTogether with other Ministers concerned, my right hon. Friend and I met the Chairman of the Northern Economic Planning Council and some of his colleagues on 18th April to discuss the particular problems of the Northern 45W Region in the context of the Council's Report, Challenge of the Changing North. The points arising from the discussion are being considered and the Government's views on the report will be made known to the Council in due course.
