§ 49. Sir G. Nabarroasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he is aware that, notwithstanding the fact that inspectors of taxes have been requested to cease demanding from taxpayers lists of assets held at 6th April, 1965, Her Majesty's Inspector of Taxes at Windsor, Berkshire, on 26th April, 1967 demanded from a taxpayer such a schedule of assets; what disciplinary action he now proposes to take to stop inspectors of taxes making such extra-statutory demands; and whether he will make a statement.
§ Mr. MacDermotI regret that a list of assets was asked for in error. The information actually wanted was information regarding the separate sources of the taxpayer's income. Appropriate action is being taken.
