HC Deb 02 May 1967 vol 746 cc55-6W
Mr. Archer

asked the Minister of Overseas Development what new aid Great Britain offered to Ceylon at the meeting organised by the World Bank in Tokyo on 18th and 19th April.

Mr. Bottomley

A further loan of £3.57 million was offered, of which £2 million is intended to be for disbursement on commodity aid in 1967–68 and the balance for disbursement in 1968–69. Like previous aid to Ceylon, the new loan will be interest free for 25 years with a 3-year grace period followed by graduated repayments over the next 5 years. Disbursements during 1967–68 would be charged to the Overseas Aid (Bilateral) Vote in due course.
