HC Deb 02 May 1967 vol 746 c40W
59. Mr. Park

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what steps Her Majesty's Government propose to take, in their pursuit of disarmament, to prevent the further development of anti-ballistic-missile systems.

Mr. George Thomson

As I have previously made clear, we have been in touch on a number of occasions with both the United States and Soviet Governments in order to explain our concern at the implications of anti-ballistic-missile deployment. They have now begun direct exchanges about limiting the nuclear arms race and we think that these offer the best hope of progress; but if we think we can make a useful contribution we shall riot hesitate to intervene.—[Vol. 745, c. 78.]
