§ Mr. Bessellasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will give an undertaking that financial assistance will be forthcoming from the Treasury to enable any local authority to undertake the removal of oil from the beaches of resorts if such oil can be reasonably assumed to have been carried by the tanker "Torrey Canyon"; and if he will further consider the necessity of this assurance in order to prevent serious loss of trade to the tourist industry in south-east Cornwall.
