§ 57. Mr. Brewisasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what increase in butter and cheese production he expects as a result of the Price Review; and whether it is his policy to expand production as a means of saving imports.
§ Mr. PeartIt is impossible to say how much extra milk will be produced as the dairy herd expands. Some part of any extra production will be needed to meet the home growing market for fresh milk and cream: some part may go to butter and cheese, the demand for which is also increasing. In reply to the second part of the Question I would refer the hon. Member to the reply given to the hon. Member for Edinburgh, West (Mr. Stodart) on 2nd November, 1966.—[Vol. 735, c. 431.]
