HC Deb 21 March 1967 vol 743 c216W
19. Mr. Evelyn King

asked the Secretary of State for Commonwealth Affairs on how many occasions in the last 12 months British subjects and British diplomatic personnel have been assaulted or insulted by soldiers of the Uganda Army; what protests were made; and with what results.

Mr. George Thomas

Twenty-four incidents have been reported to the High Commission in Kampala, of which eleven involved assault. In all the more serious cases the British High Commission made representations, and I have expressed our concern to the Uganda High Commissioner in London. The Uganda Government have expressed regret at the incidents and have undertaken to investigate and where appropriate to punish the culprits.
