HC Deb 21 March 1967 vol 743 cc245-6W
Mr. Tapsell

asked the Minister of Labour how many transferred workers were receiving grants and allowances under the Resettlement Transfer Scheme in December, 1966; and what were the comparable figures for the same months of each year since the Scheme came into operation.

Mr. Fernyhough

The scope of the Resettlement Transfer Scheme was widened on 6th September, 1962, and the number of workers assisted before and after that date are not comparable. Those currently receiving the allowances shown on 31st December each year since 1962 were as follows:

CURRENT ON 31ST DECEMBER
Year Lodging Allowance Continuing Liability Allowance
1962 680 20
1963 952 23
1964 755 54
1965 847 31
1966 615 30

As statistical information on the scheme is produced quarterly it is not possible to say how many workers were paid grants during any one month.
