HC Deb 21 March 1967 vol 743 cc244-5W
Mr. Edward M. Taylor

asked the Minister of Labour if he is aware that some Scottish contracting electrical employers are receiving conflicting advice from Government Departments and their trade association about the increase of 1s. per hour payable to their electricians; and if he will give an assurance that the Government will not prevent this wage increase, freely negotiated between the employers and the unions, being applied, in view of the fact that a similar wage increase is being applied in England.

Mr. Hattersley

The hon. Member will now be aware that on 14th March the First Secretary gave written notice that he is considering the making of an Order under Section 29 of the Prices and Incomes Act to prohibit the further payment of this increase.
