HC Deb 21 March 1967 vol 743 cc216-7W
33. Mr. Palmer

asked the Secretary of State for Commonwealth Affairs why the post of Scientific Attaché at Delhi has not been maintained.

Mr. George Thomas

As my right hon. Friend told my hon. Friend in his letter of 11th January, the High Commissioner reported in the summer of 1965 that there would be no requirement for the Scientific Attaché post if the British Council proceeded with its plans to appoint a Science Officer to New Delhi. Dr. J. M. Wilson was posted to the British Council Headquarters there in October, 1966, and among his other duties, now provides advice for the High Commissioner on scientific matters.
