Mr. Dalyell

asked the Minister of Technology what is the value of work done for the Government in the last three years on the evaluation of drag in supersonic aircraft.

Mr. Stonehouse

Apart from sums spent on particular aircraft projects, where it is not possible to isolate expenditure on drag evaluation from other expenditure, about £760,000 in Government Establishments.

Mr. Dalyell

asked the Minister of Technology what is the value of work done for the Government in the last three years on problems of aircraft exhaust nozzles.

Mr. Stonehouse

£500,000 intramurally and £400,000 in industry. In addition, considerable sums have been spent on particular engine development projects where it is not possible to isolate nozzle expenditure.

asked the Minister of Technology what is the value of work done for the Government in the last three years on flutter-testing.

Mr. Stonehouse

Apart from sums spent on particular aircraft projects where it is not possible to isolate expenditure on flutter-testing from other expenditure, about £300,000 at the Royal Aircraft Establishment, Farnborough.
