§ 64. Mr. Varleyasked the Minister of Power if he is aware that where electricity cables are stretched due to mining subsidence and a variation in voltages arises with consequential damage to electrical appliances, no liability falls on the National Coal Board; and if he wil introduce legislation to provide compensation for damage of this kind.
§ Mr. FreesonThe National Coal Board is liable for damage to the cables but not for consequential damage to electrical appliances.
I do not think that amending legislation to cover consequential damage of this nature is justified.
