HC Deb 09 March 1967 vol 742 c323W
38. Mr. Robert Cooke

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how certain prisoners at Wakefield Prison gained possession of substantial quantities of alcohol; and what action he has taken in the matter.

Mr. Roy Jenkins

The two prisoners concerned in the incident to which the hon. Member no doubt refers had been members of an outside working party. Despite full inquiries by the police and prison authorities it has not been possible to discover how they succeeded in evading the precautions taken to prevent unauthorised articles being brought into the prison.
