§ Mr. Spriggsasked the Minister of Transport how many municipal passenger undertakings there are in Area C; what is the total number of passenger vehicles operating in that area; and whether direct representation on the North West Regional Co-ordinating Committee has been offered to the Municipal Passenger Transport Association.
§ Mr. SwinglerI understand that Area C of the Association includes 34 municipal undertakings, which operate about 5,700 of the 11,000 public service vehicles running in the area.
The members of the Regional Passenger Transport Co-ordinating Committees 351W have been appointed, not as representatives of particular organisations, but to represent the interests of the Region as a whole. The North-West Committee includes four members with exprience of bus operation, two of whom have municipal backgrounds.
