HC Deb 09 March 1967 vol 742 cc349-50W
Mr. Kelley

asked the Minister of Power what is the estimated tonnage of coal which will be required each year by the Central Electricity Generating Board from 1967 to 1970; and what were the figures for each year from 1960 to 1966.

Mr. Freeson

The Central Electricity Generating Board estimates that its coal consumption in 1967 will be about 62 million tons. Pending completion of the fuel policy review, I am unable to give reliable estimates for the years 1968–70.

The figures of coal consumption in the years 1960 to 1966 are:

1960 47.3
1961 50.7
1962 55.6
1963 61.1
1964 62.8
1965 64.1
1966 62.8
