HC Deb 09 March 1967 vol 742 c333W
59. Dame Irene Ward

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether, in view of the likelihood of the closure of the British Theatre Museum, owing to lack of funds, he will discuss with the Arts Council the possibility of a grant to maintain it or, alternatively, take it over and maintain it in the national interest in a manner analogous to the National Maritime Museum at Greenwich.

Miss Jennie Lee

The Chairman of the Arts Council, on the invitation of the Trustees, has visited this Museum. Its problems are therefore fully appreciated by the Arts Council and the possibility of giving financial assistance is being looked into.
