HC Deb 09 March 1967 vol 742 cc335-6W
Mr. Lomas

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what help he is giving to the British Museum in view of the shortage of storage places for valuable documents; and if he will make a statement.

Miss Jennie Lee

If my hon. Friend is referring to the second paragraph on page 61 of the British Museum Report, I understand from my right hon. Friend the Minister of Public Building and Works that the necessary work for the Map Room and the Egerton Room has been proceeding since the end of 1966. It is estimated to cost about £15,000. If my hon. Friend has some other point in mind, he will doubtless communicate with my right hon. Friend.
