HC Deb 07 March 1967 vol 742 c244W
75. Mr. Wall

asked the Secretary of State for Commonwealth Affairs what British Colonies in the Indian Ocean have airfields; and in which other Colonies in the area he proposes to develop civil or military airfields.

Mrs. Hart

Mauritius is the only British territory in the area which has an airfield.

A civil airfield will be built in Seychelles and I refer the hon. Member to the reply given on 8th November, 1966, by the then Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies—[Vol. 735, c. 242]. There are no plans for building further civil airfields in the area.

Military airfields are a matter for my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Defence.
