HC Deb 02 March 1967 vol 742 cc136-7W
54. Sir J. Langford-Holt

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he is aware that a successful uncontested prosecution appeal against an acquittal in a magistrates' court may result in a respondent having to pay costs substantially more than the maximum fine to which a person would have been liable in the event of conviction; and if he will take steps to see that this cannot happen.

Mr. Roy Jenkins

I would refer the hon. Member to the reply which I gave to his Question on 27th February.—[Vol. 742. c.35.]
