HC Deb 02 March 1967 vol 742 cc134-5W
51. Sir E. Boyle

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science when he expects to introduce legislation to enable part-time teachers, teaching halftime or more, to qualify for a superannuation scheme.

Mr. Crosland

Following recommendations from the Working Party I set up to consider this, and consultations I have had with local authority and teachers' associations, I hope to introduce superannuation arrangements towards the end of the year for part-time teachers in primary and secondary schools. They will apply, on an optional basis, to part-time teachers who have done at least a year's full-time pensionable service. The Working Party are considering how the arrangements might be extended to other educational institutions.
