HC Deb 02 March 1967 vol 742 cc155-6W
Mr. Bence

asked the Minister of Transport what consultations she has had with representatives of the Clyde Port Authorities about the development of a container port in the Clyde Estuary.

Mr. Swingler

The Authority informed my right hon. Friend of its immediate proposal to provide container facilities at Glasgow, which does not require her consent. She is considering the Authority's proposal for a container port at Greenock in the light of the advice given to her by the National Ports Council following extensive discussions with the Authority, and my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Scotland has kept her informed of the discussions which my hon. Friend the Minister of State and his Department had with them.
