HC Deb 02 March 1967 vol 742 cc153-4W
Mr. Powell

asked the Secretary of State for Defence which are the 14 camps that were available last July for troops withdrawn from the Continent; what is their respective capacity; and how far they are now used or earmarked for troops withdrawn to this country from elsewhere than the Continent.

Mr. Reynolds

The 14 camps earmarked last July have now been included in a larger list of camps to meet planned withdrawals as a result of the Defence Review as well as possible withdrawals from B.A.O.R. Each is sufficient for a major unit; but their use depends on the type of unit to be withdrawn, its rôle in the United Kingdom, and the training facilities available locally. I am not prepared to name these camps at the present time.
