HC Deb 02 March 1967 vol 742 c140W
Mr. Alison

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will call for a report from the Chief Constable of Yorkshire, West Riding, into the circumstances under which two private citizens, one a visiting American student, sustained personal injuries from assault in the village of Aberford, near Leeds, on 10th December, 1965, into the extent of their injuries and the steps that have been taken to apprehend their assailants; and what steps are proposed to diminish the risk of such assaults in the future.

Mr. Roy Jenkins

I understand from the Chief Constable that two persons were convicted and sentenced at the Leeds West Riding Magistrates' Court on 14th February for offences connected with this incident, and that they have appealed against conviction and sentence. I cannot comment when the cases are still before the courts.
