§ Mr. RossStaff in non-training grades below ward sister are paid special duty allowances (which range from about 6½ per cent. to 13 per cent. of weekly salary) if called upon to work on Sundays or at nights; over half the nursing staff are in these grades. Extra payments are not made for public holidays as the current agreements in effect give extra leave instead.
