§ 78. Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Minister of Transport whether she will seek to increase the statutory penalties for vehicle owners who deliberately refuse to register their ownership of vehicles and thus prevent the authorities from tracing them for insurance offences, speeding and dangerous driving, and using vehicles without licences and certificates of roadworthiness.
§ Mrs. CastleMy impression is that fines imposed by courts for this offence are generally well under the present statutory maximum of £20, but I will bear my hon. Friend's suggestion in mind when a suitable legislative opportunity arises.
