§ Mr. Alfred Morrisasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what steps he is taking to make available an adequate supply of specialist teachers in the city of Manchester to meet the problems referred to in the publication, "Immigrants in School", a copy of which has been sent to him; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. CroslandThe provision of specialist teaching for this purpose in Manchester is a matter for the local education authority; I have been interested to note the account given in the booklet to which my hon. Friend refers of what has already been done in that area.
On the steps that have been taken nationally I would refer my hon. Friend to the replies given on 20th April, 1967 to the hon. Member for Dorking (Sir G. Sinclair).—[Vol. 745, c. 775–7; 133–5.]
