§ Mr. Richard Wainwrightasked the Minister of Health in how many instances during the past 10 years his Department has given permission to a local authority to vary the form of any statutory committee required to be established under legislation for which he is the responsible Minister.
§ Mr. SnowMy right hon. Friend has no power to vary the form of statutory committees, but he can at the request of a local authority direct that all or any of the functions of the committee set up under the National Assistance Act, 1948 shall be discharged by another committee. Thirteen such directions have been given since 1957.
