§ Mr. Russell Johnstonasked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he is yet in a position to make a statement on the effect of the application of weekend speed limits on certain selected roads in Scotland.
§ Mr. RossLast year's experiment, although inconclusive, suggested that the 50 m.p.h. weekend speed limit may have reduced accidents on the selected roads, and I propose to repeat it this year, without prejudice to general decisions on future speed limits.
