Mr. Elystan Morgan

asked the Minister of Labour what was the total number of persons in Wales at the last convenient date who were employed in manufacturing industry; and how this figure compares with the figure for the corresponding period in 1966.

Employment estimates for Wales, analysed by industry are available only for June each year. Supplementary estimates, in total only, are made quarterly. All of these estimates are based on counts of National Insurance cards exchanged and are available approximately seven months after the reference date.
