§ 56. Sir D. Walker-Smithasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government whether, in the context of his jurisdiction under Section 38 of the Water Resources Act 1963, and generally, he will ensure that any licence granted to abstract water from the River Rib near Ware in Hertfordshire should not be for an amount likely to derogate from the amenity or agricultural use of the vicinity.
§ Mr. MacCollParliament has made the Lee Conservancy Catchment Board primarily responsible for the issue of licences for their area, and my right hon. Friend sees no grounds at present for calling in any application relating to the Rib. But I am sure that the Board take account of considerations of the kind referred to by the hon. Member and that his Question will serve to underline the need to do so.
