§ Mr. Brewisasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether the Government propose to take action on Recommendation 456 (1966) of the Consultative Assembly of the Council of Europe on the social protection of independent farmers and members of their families; and whether they will seek to include this question in the programme of intergovernmental work of the Council of Europe in the class New work to be undertaken.
§ Mr. MulleyNo. Our own social security system provides protection for all members of the community, irrespective of their means of employment.
As the Chairman of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe explained to the Consultative Assembly in April, the Committee has decided to defer action on this subject until the intergovernmental Programme of Work is less heavily loaded.
