What number of Member States are in arrears in their contributions to the United Nations (a) for one year; (b) over one year.

The number of member States in arrears with their contributions to the regular budget of the United Nations for 1966 is 54. Of these, 25 are also in arrears for earlier years. Only one member is, as far as we are aware, in arrears with its contributions to the regular budget to an extent which would attract Article 19 of the Charter.

On the Special Account for UNEF, 11 members are in arrears for 1966 only, and 58 in arrears for 1966 and earlier years. On the Special Account for ONUC, 58 members are in arrears, all for years earlier than 1966 since the Special Account is now inactive.
