§ 43. Mr. G. Elfed Daviesasked the Minister of Technology if he will give the total cost so far of the civilian nuclear power research and development programme and the value of exports gained therefrom.
§ Mr. BennThe total cost so far of the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority's civilian nuclear power research and development programme is approximately £270 million. It is not possible to quantify the value of exports gained therefrom by private industrial firms and by the Authority. I should add that export promotion is only a part, and not the main, justification of this programme.
