HC Deb 05 June 1967 vol 747 c142W
Mr. Edwin Wainwright

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will give the number of places for women students in Great Britain's medical universities for the years 1962, 1963, 1964, 1965, 1966 and 1967 respectively; and the estimated figures for 1968, 1969 and 1970.

Mr. Goronwy Roberts

The numbers of women students entering medical schools in Great Britain in the years 1962 to 1966 were as follows:

1962 523
1963 542
1964 536
1965 541
1966 570 (provisional)
The universities and medical schools are themselves responsible for deciding which candidates to admit, and it is not possible to estimate how many women will be admitted in future years.
