§ Mrs. Shirley WilliamsMy right hon. Friend cannot require schools to give instruction in particular subjects. However, the Department organises each year short courses for teachers in rural studies and allied matters. A Working Party of the Schools Council is considering rural studies in the schools and the possibilities of further development.
