HC Deb 27 July 1967 vol 751 c244W
Mr. Edward M. Taylor

asked the Minister of Labour how many men and women, respectively, were in employment in Scotland at the most recent date for which figures are available; and what were the comparable figures in the same month of each of the previous three years.

Mr. Fernyhough

Employment estimates for Scotland have been made quarterly since June, 1965, and are available seven months after the reference dates. For earlier years, only mid-year estimates were made.

The following table shows estimates for each June from 1963 to 1966 and for December, 1965, and December, 1966:

EMPLOYERS IN EMPLOYMENT IN SCOTLAND

June, 1963 1,331 771 2,102
June, 1964 1,346 786 2,132

December, 1965 1,341 812 2,153
June, 1966 1,332 811 2,143
