101. Mr. Colin Jacksonasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what further action he proposes to take through the United Nations and with other major interested Powers to secure a peaceful settlement of the Arab-Israeli dispute.
§ Mr. George ThomsonAs my right hon. Friend the Foreign Secretary has said on pervious occasions, it is our belief that the primary responsibility for finding a settlement rests upon the international community as a whole acting through the United Nations. We will continue to take whatever opportunities may be open to us to play our due part in discharging this responsibility. For the time being we must concentrate on getting a situation in which we can move from a cease fire to consideration of a long-term settlement.
