§ 58. Sir Knox Cunninghamasked the Secretary of State for Commonwealth Affairs whether his consultations with the Government of Zambia have been completed; whether any regret has been expressed by them for the remarks of Mr. A. M. Simbule; and if he will now declare the High Commissioner-designate persona non grata.
§ Mr. BowdenMy consultations with the Government of Zambia have now been concluded. On the authority of his Government, Mr. Simbule has expressed regret for any hurt caused by his remarks in Dar-es-Salaam, and, as announced on 11th July, I have thought it right to recommend that Mr. Simbule should now be received by Her Majesty as Zambian High Commissioner.
