§ 69. Mr. Roebuckasked the Minister of Technology on what date he was informed by the Chrysler Corporation of the intention to close the Thrupp and Maberly factory in North-West London; and what action he took.
§ Mr. BennI was informed on 16th June, before the formal announcement was made, and was given an assurance that the company would do everything possible to mitigate any hardship arising from the closure. I satisfied myself that the closure did not of itself breach any of the undertakings given to me, and I now understand that agreement has been reached between the management and the unions concerned on the effective date and on the rates of compensation to be paid to employees made redundant.
