§ Mr. Channonasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether members of the public, who are not coin collectors, owning more that four gold coins minted after 1837, in the form of personal jewellery are required by Statutory Instrument, 1966, No. 438, to hand them in.
§ Mr. MacDermotThe Order covers all gold coins minted after 1837. It is now illegal to make gold coins into jewellery, but where such jewellery was acquired before the Order, people are not required to break it up and dispose of the coins under the Order.
