§ Mrs. Renée Shortasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he will carry out a fundamental reappraisal of British foreign policies in the Middle East and the Far East in order to bring British commitments within a framework commensurate with the ability to fulfil those commitments.
§ Mr. George BrownAs was made clear in the statement on the Defence Estimates in February (Cmnd. 3202), Her Majesty's Government consider that the Defence Review is a continuing process and a permanent part of our policy making. Included in that Review is a regular and close examination of our commitments and the means we have to fulfil them. A further White Paper is due to be published on the subject on 18th July.
