§ 61. Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Minister of Transport whether she will give details of the 183,535 cases in the Greater London Council area of persons having been reported in the 12 months ended 31st May, 1967 for having no road fund licence; what was the national figure; what were the total fines imposed upon those of the 9,566 prosecuted who were found guilty; how many of these were so found; and what was the total so received in mitigated penalties.
§ Mr. John MorrisNo. To provide details of that number of cases is beyond the scope of a Parliamentary Answer. In 1966 there were 282,000 reports, including those received by the Greater London Council. I am informed that of the 9,566 offenders prosecuted by the Greater London Council 9,321 were found guilty and the total fines amounted to £95,200. The Council received £116,451 in mitigated penalties but these cases did not involve prosecution.
