Mr. Gurdenasked the Minister of Transport what proportion of the working time of her Department's vehicle inspectors is spent in calling on residential hotels and similar places used by lorry drivers to inquire into the movements of their guests and times of arrival, and departure; and what is the cost of this inquiry.
§ Mr. SwinglerThe Department's inspectors are responsible for enforcing the law concerning vehicle fitness and drivers hours and they may occasionally need to make inquiries at hotels to trace the whereabouts of lorry drivers. The time and cost of these few inquiries is negligible.
