HC Deb 04 July 1967 vol 749 c209W
47. Mr. Corfield

asked the Minister of Power what considerations have led to the change of voltage in the South Western Electricity Board's area from 210 to 240 volts; and what precautions were taken in order to ensure that the higher voltage could be maintained.

Mr. Freeson

The standard voltage for domestic premises in this country is 240 and area boards have a statutory obligation to promote standardisation. Maintenance of the declared voltage is the responsibility of the Board.
