HC Deb 04 July 1967 vol 749 c238W
Mr. Eadie

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland to what extent the proposed Hunterston B nuclear station is intended to meet the growth in electricity demand in Scotland; and whether its introduction will result in the displacement of conventional power stations.

Mr. Ross

The whole output of the station will be required to meet the expected growth in electricity demand in Scotland. No conventional station will be displaced, but the commissioning of any efficient new station may result in older stations being less used to meet the base load.
