§ Mr. Hamlingasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what representations have been made to him on the closing on banks on Saturday mornings; what reply he has sent; and whether he will make a statement.
§ Mr. CallaghanI have received a number of representations from the banks and their employees, from industrial and commercial interests and from members of the public, and have said that I will give full consideration to all these representations at the appropriate time. I intend to examine the matter in the light of the forthcoming report of the National Board for Prices and Incomes on the subject of bank charges and practices.
