HC Deb 27 January 1967 vol 739 c383W
Mr. Whitaker

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he will pay compensation to Adeni citizens who have been found to have been wrongfully injured by any member of the British security or military forces.

Mr. George Thomson

Although it is open to a person to seek redress through the courts, claims are normally dealt with and settled by the appropriate authorities directly with the person concerned. Compensation has been paidex gratia in certain cases where injury to persons or damage to property has resulted from security operations in Aden; any further cases would be considered on their merits.
