97. Mr. John Wells

asked the Minister of Transport whether she will give a general direction to the Waterways Authority to take steps to prevent the further transfer of coal traffic from the waterways to the roads.

No. The British Waterways Board assures me that it does everything within its power to retain existing traffics, consistent with the economic use of the waterways, and to attract new ones.
